The Executive Committee for the Capital Chapter is comprised of elected officers. The committee is made up of the Chapter President, four Vice Presidents, the Immediate Past President and the Chapter Administrator. Our Chapter Administrator is a non-voting staff member.

Kim Dize, LEED Green Associate
President
Office Movers, Inc.

Kim has been working in the facilities management and real estate fields since 1988 and has been an IFMA member for over 10 years. She began her career as a facilities manager who handled site selection, lease negotiations, space planning, construction and move management as well as  operations for an international telecommunications firm. She then moved on to the consulting world to provide relocation project management services to corporation headquarters, law firms, associations and other tenants for the next several years. She spent the next eight years as the VP of Marketing and Business Development for a large, Virginia based mechanical, electrical and plumbingengineering design firm before joining Office Movers, inc. in 2009. She now serves as the VP of  Business Development for Office Movers which is part of the Kane Company’s suite of services  – Office Installers, Office Shredding, Kane Government Services, Kane Hospitality, Office Archives and eCyclers. In addition to serving on various committees, Kim served on the Executive Board of the Capital Chapter of IFMA as the immediate past President of the Chapter and served as Vice President of Programs, Partnership, Community Service and Finance.

Sarah Gabriel
Vice President 
Washington Workplace

Sarah Gabriel is a Furniture Consultant at Washington Workplace, an independent furniture dealer representing more than 300 manufacturers. She has been a member of the Capital Chapter of IFMA since 2008. She earned the Distinguished Associate Member of the Year Award at the chapter’s 25th Anniversary Gala for her work on the newly formulated Buddy Program. Sarah recently served for two and half years as Co-Chair of the Membership Services Team before being elected to the Executive Committee.

Steve Roberts, CFM

State Service Organization

Steve Roberts is the Executive Director of State Services Organization, a non-profit organization, located in the Hall of States that provides facility services to states and state related organizations. He earned his CFM in 2006 and has been part of the Professional Development Committee since 2005. Steve has a BA from University of Central Florida and a MBA from Averett University. He also completed the Facility Management Certificate Program from George Mason University in 2006. Steve also serves as a part time instructor with the GMU program.

Wendy Shapiro
Vice President 
State Services Organization

Wendy combines her talents in several phases of the operations of State Services Organization. Previously Wendy worked for six years at Fanelli McClain Design Studios, a design firm and Chapter Partner in Fairfax, VA to develop business connections, marketing materials and operational budgets. Ms Shapiro developed much of her business acumen while managing multiple departments at Bloomingdale's, Tysons Corner. She joined IFMA in 2004 and immediately became involved in the Membership Committee, eventually becoming co-chair. She recently served as the Vice President for Partnership and Community Service.

Geoffrey Snavely, LEED AP

Geoff Snavely is the Vice President - General Manager for MilliCare by EBC Carpet Services. He has been involved with the carpet and textile maintenance industry since 1996. Geoff has been a LEED AP since 2005 and also earned the status of Green Cleaning Professional through The Ashkin Group. His background includes experience in the areas of training/education and consultative selling. Geoff believes firmly in his company's core philosophy of understanding the specific needs of their customers and providing customized solutions based on those needs. He has been a member of the Capital Chapter since 2007 and is currently the Vice President responsible for our Partnership Program. Also, Geoff is involved with helping to take Professional Development for the Chapter to the next level.

John Mackay, CFM

John is a Senior Consultant with MacKnight Associates, a facility management consulting firm in Arlington, Virginia. He spent seven years as a manager in the corporate facilities department of Gannett and has over 25 years of analytical and operations experience with area firms America Online, USA TODAY, and Perpetual Real Estate Services. John joined IFMA in 2000 and has served as the Programs Chair, the VP of Professional Development, Treasurer and President for the Capital Chapter. John earned his Professional Certificate in Facility Management from George Mason University in 2004 and his CFM in 2005. John is currently an IFMA instructor for the Finance & Business Essentials and Leadership & Management Essentials FMP courses and has taught several of the GMU FM courses as well.
