4/1/2010: Program: Architechnology – Designing Technology into Your Project

Location:
Haworth Showroom
Washington, DC
Time: 11:30am - 1:00pm
Cost: $15.00/Members | $25.00/Non-members
Speakers: Jeff Loether, President of Electro-Media Design, Ltd.
Details:

As meeting room audiovisual technologies evolve, designing functional spaces to accommodate these innovations becomes more challenging. Audiovisual technologies "converging" with IP networks provide opportunities for greater service and control throughout the facility. Without adequate planning, the interior design architectural elements and network infrastructure can prevent effective use of current and future meeting room A/V technologies.

In this experiential workshop, you will see and hear the impact of good and bad learning environments. Jeff Loether, President of Electro-Media Design, Ltd. will explore options to accommodate the next generation of presentation and meeting technologies, while maintaining an aesthetically pleasing design. Register early, the price to attend increases by $10 after March 25th!

Details:

Not many FMs will build a new LEED building from scratch, but all FMs are looking for ways to operate their existing buildings more efficiently and in a more sustainable manner. You’ve probably seen lots of emails, publications, and training sessions about how to make new buildings sustainable, but there isn’t much help when it comes to making your aging facilities green and efficient. The Capital Chapter’s one-day summit will target ‘next layer’ operational strategies and better ways to operate more efficiently and sustainably.

Attendees will be able to:
-Choose from 9 offerings in 3 operational tracks
-Visit 20 exhibitors with sustainable products and/or services
-Network with 100+ practicing FMs
-Build a step-by-step roadmap for your 2010 sustainable activities

This summit will deliver up-to-date information on green operations in three different tracks:

Track 1 – How-to Series: This track is designed to deliver the latest in IFMA and the IFMA Foundation’s How-to series in sustainable facility management. From getting started to ENERGY STAR to the latest in food service, lighting, and other operational topics. This track includes presentations from the latest How-to guides.

Track 2 – Sustainable Operations: This track is designed to deliver the latest in the most important aspects of SFM. Operational strategies for saving water, saving energy, materials and resources, and occupant comfort will be covered by FMs and service providers who will show you ways to become more efficient, effective, and sustainable.

Track 3 – Measurement and Monitoring: Building certification systems and case studies, benchmarking, and the use of the newest technologies in sustainable operations will be presented in this important track.

Plenary Session – Learn from Capital Chapter FM’s on how they’ve made their existing buildings more sustainable by attending our panel session. Hear from three FM’s that have been through the process of greening their facilities; trials, challenges, and successes.

This event is open to FMs only and is not to be missed! Professional Members pay only $99 for a limited time, price increases to $125 after 3/8. Non-Member FMs pay $150. If you do not receive an invitation, but would like to attend please contact staff@ifmacap.org.
