IFMA Foundation
Established in 1990 as a non-profit, 501(c) (3) corporation, and a separate entity from IFMA, the IFMA Foundation works for the public good to promote priority research and educational opportunities for the advancement of facility management. A separate entity from IFMA, the IFMA Foundation receives no funding from annual membership dues to carry out its mission. It’ s supported by the generosity of the FM community including IFMA members, chapters, councils, corporate sponsors and private contributors who share the belief that education and research improve the FM profession. Visit the IFMA Foundation website to learn more.
The Foundation provides many funding opportunities for IFMA members and students and if you’re in need of assistance to attend a recognized degree program or take courses via our local George Mason University certificate program, you have several options available for you to apply for.
Education/Scholarships/Grants
Providing scholarships and grants enhances the IFMA Foundation’s mission to identify, fund and promote education and research for the advancement of facility management. The future of the profession is heavily dependent upon those preparing to enter the field of facility management, and supporting deserving students helps to ensure the quality of built environment in a changing world.
Made possible by donations from endowments and individual contributions funded by individuals, corporations, IFMA chapters and IFMA councils, scholarships are available annually to graduate and undergraduate students pursuing degrees in facility management or related fields. In addition to the scholarship, sponsors provide recipients the means to attend World Workplace where they can take advantage of the opportunity to network with others in the FM community.
Funding for Scholarships
Scholarship applicants are solicited in the spring of each year and funded the following fall.
Scholarships provided through the IFMA Foundation are set at a minimum of $1,500 (US) and also include payment for the recipient to attend IFMA’s World Workplace event.
The Foundation Scholarships are funded from two sources:
• Scholarship funds established by chapters, councils, corporations, or individuals and administered on their behalf by the IFMA Foundation.
• Annual scholarships donated by chapters, councils, corporations, or individuals.
• Our Capital Chapter endows the Barbara Pryor Scholarship
IFMA Foundation scholarships are awarded on the basis of merit, not need. Scholarship applications are evaluated on achievements/ accomplishments, involvement, letter of intent, resume and faculty appraisals.
Students have sole responsibility for ensuring accuracy and compliance. Any variance from credentials will be cause for disqualification. No hand written applications will be accepted – no exceptions. Decisions of the scholarship judges are final. Applicants will be notified of results by mail, no telephone calls please.
